All-State 08!
Published by admin June 2nd, 2008 in Out and About.Well, after all the planning and anticipation, Massachusetts Art-All State 2008 at Worcester Art Museum was a smashing success. I’m really honored to have been a part of it twice now- once as an 11th grade participant, and now 11 years later as a Mentor/ Artist. My facilitating partner, David, and I had a great group of 18 students who, for being in a whirlwind of meeting new people, and facing the challenge of creating a whole installation with a very limited set of materials in only a matter of hours, did an unbelievable job.
Following the event’s theme of ”Limits/No Limits” all 8 pairs of Mentor/Artists were instructed to select two materials for their group to work with. David and I chose wire clothing hangers and coffee filters. Another surprise material was selected for us, and even we didn’t know what it would be until the event. If you can’t tell by the photos, it was long strips of blue foam.
We pushed our group to push their limits and the limits of the materials. There is so much I could go into detail about the incredible, speedy process our group embarked upon, but I know these images say enough for now.
Though, I do have two more words for my amazing group of students: Keep reaching!
