Like I said, Scan of the Day will likely not be a daily post, but here is the latest installment:
Can you guess what it is? If it’s really late at night and your eyes are getting tired, the tags below will give you a clue.
The plan was to visit Dad and camp in Vermont this weekend. Since we have the rare chance to see my brother (a resident of S.C.) in Boston on Saturday and also because the weather doesn’t look favorable for tenting, Vermont will have to wait. Here’s a pic from a recent end-of-May weekend at Dad’s anyway.
I really love the way the colors pop against the concrete and wood in this one. The paper ‘Happy 30th Bob’ banner might still be up today. It was so cheerful we couldn’t bring ourselves to take it down.
I’m excited to announce that my shop is moving to www.meghanburch.etsy.com and my blog to www.meghanburch.com. To celebrate and make the move a little easier, Kaybu is hosting a moving special! Through July 4, 2008 recieve FREE SHIPPING on all orders sent within the US!
I’m in the process of packing my virtual boxes, so you can still find my screen-printed and handmade items for women, children and the home at www.kaybu.etsy.com.
I’ve just put these new linen coasters in the front window of my Etsy Shop. I love the combination of the electric lemon yellow with linen. They would do nicely to show off your famous lemonade or a killer mojito!
Well, after all the planning and anticipation, Massachusetts Art-All State 2008 at Worcester Art Museum was a smashing success. I’m really honored to have been a part of it twice now- once as an 11th grade participant, and now 11 years later as a Mentor/ Artist. My facilitating partner, David, and I had a great group of 18 students who, for being in a whirlwind of meeting new people, and facing the challenge of creating a whole installation with a very limited set of materials in only a matter of hours, did an unbelievable job.
Following the event’s theme of ”Limits/No Limits” all 8 pairs of Mentor/Artists were instructed to select two materials for their group to work with. David and I chose wire clothing hangers and coffee filters. Another surprise material was selected for us, and even we didn’t know what it would be until the event. If you can’t tell by the photos, it was long strips of blue foam.
We pushed our group to push their limits and the limits of the materials. There is so much I could go into detail about the incredible, speedy process our group embarked upon, but I know these images say enough for now.
Though, I do have two more words for my amazing group of students: Keep reaching!
