New In My Shop- Silver Scales

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

07.10.28.Choc.Silver.ScalesI’m excited to share this new print. My husband has been doing some work with the japanese fish scale print in his work, so it was only a matter of time before it made it into mine. Take a look at this shirt in my Etsy shop.

Cork Board Collection #3

As you can see, these things haven’t made their way to the cork board yet. Until recently they were in a pile on a table, just waiting for their connectedness to be discovered. The postcard in the middle is an image by Jane Hammond. I love her three dimensional collage prints. When I saw her speak about her work last fall she described a visual “lexicon” of images she continually recombined. That swatch of lovely pink fabric is probably a remnant from my Chocolate Canvas Reversible Kelly Tote . I still have a bit more of it-perhaps to be turned into another pocket or some headbands!

This corner of the cork board attracted all things turquoise and words. There’s enough material here to inspire a story! See how this collection inspires the work in my Etsy shop.

Cork Board Collection #1

07.10.13Tackcollection1

I wanted to share a few sections of the cork board in my studio. I like to arrange my collection of materials experiments, swatches of color and interesting objects so that every now and then I can go to my board for an exercise in editing and recombining. When it comes to collage, rarely does anything I assemble become permanent. When I make an arrangement of papers or objects it’s hard to commit to just one arrangement; as soon as pieces are settled into a spot, another possibility emerges. I usually enjoy the process of testing and discovering combinations more than the end product. I’m curious to know- are there any makers- of- things out there that like their product more than the process of creating it? If so, what do you make?

07.10.12.Carrots

At the end of September 2006 I bought a 25 lb. bag of carrots for $5 at Atkins Farm in Amherst that lasted us through Thanksgiving. This year’s crop is bright and ready for a thousand recipes. Cooking with them will be like making art with multiples. If it’s true that carrots are good for your eyes, we should have Superman’s vision by the time this bag’s gone.

07.10.11.Favethingswasher

Well, it isn’t glamorous, but I love my washer. I love love love not having to go to the laundromat. Although a lot of good thinking and people watching can happen at those places, I really appreciate not having to encounter the curious odors and broken change machines. Carrying a load up 3 flights from the basement of our building is good exercise too!

0710.01Breakfasttea

It’s the most important meal of the day! Just because it’s routine, breakfast at sunrise with my husband and a great cup of tea shouldn’t be taken for granted. We had Dragon’s Well loose leaf green from teaguys this morning. It’ll be time for another order soon and all their new tea blends look so tasty. It’ll be hard to decide!
