Introducing: the Nancy Tote Bag! It’s named for my Aunt Nancy who is fun, easygoing, flexible, and happy to travel at a moment’s notice; all qualities that will make this hand screen-printed canvas and vintage cotton tote your new go-to bag. The debut of the Nancy Tote Bag also marks the debut of my newest print- Asteria. It’s inspired by the different ways children draw suns, and after flipping through an old National Geographic magazine, I discovered photos of microscopic Asterionella Diatoms (fresh water algae) that also look like these shapes. Here’s the really neat part- I looked up the name Aster and discovered that its origins are Greek and means star. It’s kind of neat to imagine the connections here: from a child’s hand, to space, to a microscope, back to space, and now back into our hands.
