07.19.07Minkasterionellabag

Introducing: the Nancy Tote Bag! It’s named for my Aunt Nancy who is fun, easygoing, flexible, and happy to travel at a moment’s notice; all qualities that will make this hand screen-printed canvas and vintage cotton tote your new go-to bag. The debut of the Nancy Tote Bag also marks the debut of my newest print- Asteria. It’s inspired by the different ways children draw suns, and after flipping through an old National Geographic magazine, I discovered photos of microscopic Asterionella Diatoms (fresh water algae) that also look like these shapes. Here’s the really neat part- I looked up the name Aster and discovered that its origins are Greek and means star. It’s kind of neat to imagine the connections here: from a child’s hand, to space, to a microscope, back to space, and now back into our hands. Ogunquitpinkflowerbuds

I took this photo while walking along the Marginal Way in Ogunquit, ME with mom a couple of weekends ago. I’m really drawn to radial patterns, so you can see why this one caught my eye. While there, we stayed at Almost Home Inn Ogunquit. Our hosts Jaqui and Grande were very welcoming and went out of their way to help us enjoy our first visit to Ogunquit. Though I could tell that Jaqui would go out of her way for a first time or hundredth time visitor. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Ogunquit, I recommend checking out www.almosthomeinnogunquit.com

It’s going to be nice and hot here in MA the next couple of days. When it’s too sticky out for styling your hair, throw on one of these reversible headbands just posted to my etsy shop. I’ve been growing out my hair, and having a couple of these around has been a big frustration and complaint saver. Just ask my husband!

Just posted to my etsy shop is this Beach Stones Red and White T Shirt in three sizes. I searched far and wide to find just the right shirts to use for my products. If you like the GAP Stretch t shirts, you’ll love these. They have just the right amount of give and take to flatter any lady’s shape.

Time to Play

07.06.26.Pinwheelforblog

Child development texts talk about the importance of play in children’s growth and learning, but what about kids who’ve grown out of little bodies? To me, play is a form of work, and since I love my work, it’s a form of play. I love to experiment with turning two dimensional drawings and fabric into three dimensional forms. Are you fresh out of creative ideas? Observe children playing and creating. That’s how I get most of mine.
