Abbey should be excited about this post because it includes more photos from woodpiles in Vermont.

These amazing birch logs at my Father-in-law’s (also named Bob) have turned all metallic and pealing beautiful. You might remember my other photos of his woodpile which have made their way around my blog block.
This photo taken by BobDad (that’s easier to type) is of his parents’ wood pile. It’s a good illustration of their overall well-stocked and organized home.
And while we’re on the subject of stacks, this is a vertical collection of floral patterned mattresses back at BobDad’s.
Oh bother, I can’t find the before photo. I know I took it. This is the thrift store office chair Bob uses in the studio. You’ll have to imaging the before: horrible, shredding brick red polyester upholstery fabric and not very nice brown metal. Now take a look at the after…
If you had seen the before, I think you would be at least a little dazzled, at least we’re very happy with the result. From removing the old fabric and deteriorating foam, to printing the canvas with a screen that kept leaking, to stapling the fabric to a wood-like material that did not want to be stapled to, this was definitely a team effort. Bob persevered when I nearly gave up.
Soon you’ll see this print appear on the fantastic new products I’ll be posting in my new shop.

I logged into Etsy to work on my new shop and found a set of my screen-printed blank cards (2nd down from right) among great company on Etsy’s home page in a treasury titled “Lighten Up.
The Big Apple in Boston
0 Comments Published July 2nd, 2008 in Looks Good Enough to Eat, Out and About, Uncategorized. No, I’m not referring to a Yankees at Fenway scenario. This is about a much dorkier reason to be excited. On Saturday we went to Boston, the city of my college years, to meet up with my brother, up from South Carolina for a wedding. We first spotted it while in the observatory on the 50th floor of the Prudential Center…
…the new large Apple Store on Boylston St…(create your own choir-like sound effect here)
…complete with an industrial glass staircase in the center of the 3-floor store. Even though we love Macs, the Apple Store wasn’t the center-piece of our day’s itinerary.
It was Brown Sugar Cafe in the Fenway. I introduced my parents to Thai food via Brown Sugar on one of their visits in Boston. It has to be one of the best Thai restaurants in the country. No kidding. Pictured above is my choice, the Basil Pad Thai. Spicy!

0 Comments Published June 27th, 2008 in Beauty in the Everyday, Ideas and Inspiration. The plan was to visit Dad and camp in Vermont this weekend. Since we have the rare chance to see my brother (a resident of S.C.) in Boston on Saturday and also because the weather doesn’t look favorable for tenting, Vermont will have to wait. Here’s a pic from a recent end-of-May weekend at Dad’s anyway.
I really love the way the colors pop against the concrete and wood in this one. The paper ‘Happy 30th Bob’ banner might still be up today. It was so cheerful we couldn’t bring ourselves to take it down.
I’m excited to announce that my shop is moving to www.meghanburch.etsy.com and my blog to www.meghanburch.com. To celebrate and make the move a little easier, Kaybu is hosting a moving special! Through July 4, 2008 recieve FREE SHIPPING on all orders sent within the US!
I’m in the process of packing my virtual boxes, so you can still find my screen-printed and handmade items for women, children and the home at www.kaybu.etsy.com.
